Concept Of Equality In The Religion Islam

The basic and main element in the Islamic value system is following the principle of equality. This value of the equality should not be confused or mistaken with the stereotype. Religion Islam teaches that all men are equal in the sight of Almighty Allah, however they are not necessarily identical. There are lots of differences of potentials, wealth, ambitions and abilities. None of these differences can establish the status of superiority of one man to the other.

The color of skin of a man, the wealth that he has, and his prestige has no effect on the personality and character of the individual. It is deeds of a person that matters the most.  Only distinction that Allah Almighty recognizes is distinction in piety, while the criterion that Allah applies tells about the spiritual excellence and goodness. As it is said in the Qur’an:

O mankind, verily We have created you from a single (Pair) of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is the most righteous “(49:13).

The difference of color race or the social status is just accidental. They have no effect on the stature of man in the sight of Almighty Allah. The true value of equality is not just a matter of constitutional rights or regarding the agreement of charity. It represents the article of faith that all the Muslims take very seriously and it must be adhered very sincerely.
